Although neglected for many years, sound is finally being acknowledged as a fundamental language. Essential source of information on the surrounding world and crucial tool to stimulate imagination, sound is also a powerful language for communication and artistic expression.

With this conference we propose to discuss the scientific and cultural status of sound in contemporary societies, as well as to put into perspective some critical topics, such as the preservation of sound memory, the education for active listening and the potential sound represents for creativity. The organisers invite educators, students, researchers and sound artists to participate in this two-day event, which will take place fisically (with no online transmission) in Braga, Portugal.
